CONTROLOGY CLUB
This 8 week Program is for busy Pilates Teachers who want it all. Each 90 minute class will be both a Workout and a Workshop!
The first half of the each class is your time to move, Open Gym style. I'm watching to help you get the most out of your workout, giving you guidance, suggestions, corrections or even new challenges.
The second half is when we get nerdy. Based on what I see during the workouts, I might pick topics or themes that we can dive into together. Altneratively, you can bring your questions or challenges to class for us to dig into.
There are no rules other than come with an open mind and ready to sweat

a Deeper Understanding of Pilates as a System
practice what you want
Each of us is on our own journey in our unique body. We have different goals, ways of learning and reasons why we do Pilates. Group led classes can be fun, but they are not where you build your mind-body connection. This only really happens when you have the space (literally and figuratively) to go at your speed, notice what works, try again when something doesn't work and truly get to know yourself. Independent Practice is an integral part of your learning as a teacher.
Joe Pilates ran his entire studio on the Open Gym format. When students first came, they were given a few exercises and told to come 3. times a week to practice. Once Joe saw they had learned these, he (or one of his apprentices) would add on to their program. Joe realized the value in ownership and independence in learning.
confidence
Independent Practice allows you to build trust in yourself, your body and your understanding of movement. You don't just know things because you read the chapter in your manual or you heard it from your teacher. You know things because you have FELT them in your body. This trust in yourself leads to confidence and empowerment that spills over into your teaching and the rest of your life!
workshop topics relevant to you
What we talk about in the workshop part of the class is directly tied to what you (or one of your classmates) was just working on so the information is immediately relevant and applicable. This time can also be used for questions or challenges that you bring forward. With a small class size, there is time for everyone to get what they want!
personalized guidance
As you move through your Independent Practice, I am watching you. When I like what I see, I will generally let you carry on with your great work, or if it especially commendable, I'll let you know that you're doing a great job! If I see something that could be better, safer or more connected I'll guide you with a suggestion or correction. If I think you're ready for more, I'll even offer a challenge! These aren't the type of generalized cues that you might be used to in group led classes - cues that may or may not be relevant to you. They are comments that are specifically for your personal practice and your needs.
A Supportive Community
Class size is limited to 8 participants so you will get to know each other by the end of the program. You'll get to learn from each other and be inspired by one another. You'll realize that you aren't alone in your questions and struggles. And that it feels wonderful to walk this road with others who share your passion.
Recordings
All 8 sessions will be recorded and available for you to review up to 4 weeks after the program ends. This allows you to:
- Be fully present and participating, knowing that you can write your notes later.
- Stay focussed in your own practice rather than getting distracted by what might be happening on the screen.
- Review your practice and truly see your progress over the 8 weeks.
- Watch your cohort move - it is always facscinating to see how these exercsies challenge different bodies and the more bodies you watch, the better your observation skills become.
- Hear me correcting/guiding/cueing in real time - this helps you see through my eyes and gives you all sorts of ideas to cue your own students.
I highly encourage watching the recordings as there is so much value in them.
